Woldingham old girl, Carey Mulligan has been nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in the upcoming Academy Awards for her role in An Education. With the BAFTAs also just around the corner, for which she is nominated as one of the Orange Rising Stars, she also picked up a nomination in December for a Golden Globe award and scooped Best Actress prize at the British Independent Film Awards only a few days before that.

Carey left Woldingham in 2003 and has achieved a remarkable amount in her short career. Her role in An Education is her debut starring role - not many actresses can boast such an early accomplishment. We wish Carey, who left Woldingham in 2003, all the best for the on-going Awards season.
